Nis

Situated at crossroads of Balkan and European highways, connecting Asia Minor to Europe, Nis is one of the oldest cities in the Balkans, and has from ancient times been considered a gateway between the East and the West. It is home to one of Serbias oldest Christian churches dating to the 4th century in the suburb of Mediana. Nis is also notable as the birthplace of Constantine the Great, the first Christian Roman Emperor and the founder of Constantinople, as well as two other Roman emperors, Constantius III and Justin I.

The Skull Tower is a monument to 19th century Serbian rebels. It is situated in Nis.

The Nis Fortress, dating from the first decades of the 18th century (1719-1723). Nis Fortress is a complex and very important cultural and historical monument. It rises on the right bank of the Nisava River, overlooking the area inhabited for longer than two millenniums.

Mediana is an important archeological site from the late Roman period. It represents a luxurious residence with a highly organized economy. Excavatations have revealed a villa with peristyle, thermae, granary and water tower. The residence dates to the reign of Constantine the Great 306 to 337. Nis Mediana represents the best-preserved part of Roman Naissus.

Vranje

The place to go for experiencing the genuine architecture and vibes of once powerful Ottoman Empire. The Yerma canyon is a good place to visit for some trekking and eagle-spotting.

The Devils Town

Rare geological phenomenon, consists of hundreds of stone pillars topped with wide flat rocky caps. There are two springs. "Djavolja voda" ("Devils Water") with extremely high acid water (pH 1.5) and high mineral concentration (15g/l of water) and "Crveno vrelo" ("Red Well").

Pirot

Town known for the original carpet production (?ilim), cheese, car tires production and well preserved nature.

Vlasinsko Lake

Lake of the floating islands. Artificial lake at the 1200m above sea level, 8 km long and 2,5 km wide.

Kosovo i Metohija

The southern province of Serbia, the heart and soul of Serbia because of its history and large number of orthodox monasteries. The word "Kosovo" means the land of blackbirds (kos- blackbird). The word Metohija comes from the Greek word "metoh" which means church estate. There are a lot of sights from Serbian past on the area of Kosovo and Metohija. We would like to single out the most important: 13th century Pecka Patrijarsija Monastery, the old center of Serbian Orthodox Church, Gracanica Monastery, Visoki Decani Monastery, 14th century Saint Archangel Michaels Monastery. The southern province is under the jurisdiction of KFOR and UMNIK  due to events from the past.

Visoki Decani

Pec. Patriarchate

Monastery is located close to Pec, at the entrance to Rugovska Gorge. It was built in 13th century, as an appendage to monastery of Zica. In the period between 14th and 18th century it was the seat of Archbishop and Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Visoki Decani Monastery

It was built in the 14th century as an endowment of King Stefan Decanski. His relics are still kept in the monastery church which is dedicated to Christ Pantokrator.
