An excellent region for adventure tourism. The mountain region is made of numerous planes wedged in and many water sources. Various caves in the mountains are open to tourists. This part of Serbia offers manu unique itineraries in the unspoiled nature. Several historical Roman locations like Gamzigrad, Caricin Grad, Vminacium are amongst the biggest tourist attractions in Serbia. Besides, there are also other good example of history with Ottoman and Roman remnants. Smederevo In the 15th century Smederevo was the capital of Serbia. Today it is well known for its vineyards and for the metal industry. Golubac One of the most preserved medieval fortresses. Built on a rock, it has 9 towers connected by ramparts.
Lepenski Vir This archeological site reveals how people lived 8000 years ago. Well preserved objects and whole villages give us a clear picture of the Neolithic way of life.
Danube River and The Djerdap Gorge With the monumental Golubac fortress built on the place where the Danube reaches an incredible eight kilometers in width, offers some of the most beautiful sceneries in Serbia. Kladovo Town located on the banks of Danube. Town of rich history. Roman emperor Trajan built a bridge on Danube in 2nd century in order to transfer his solders to Dakia province. Remains of that bridge can be seen even today near Kladovo.
Negotin Located in Timocka krajina region at the meeting point of Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria. Timocka krajina is known for its excellent conditions for grape growing. A famous Serbian composer Stevan Mokranjac was born in Negotin, and every year, a music festival Mokranjcevi dani takes place in this town. Pozarevac This town also once a capital of Serbia. At the beginning of the 19th century during the reign of Knez Milos the capital of Serbia was temporarily transferred to Pozarevac. Today, one of the centers of the food industry is located there. Viminacium Archeological park-Capital of Roman province Upper Moesia. Roman town and military camp 1st-5th century A.D. Majdanpek Once the town famous for the copper and gold. When the reserves of these metals came to the end, Majdanpek stared revealing its other side beautiful nature. Rajkova Cave, Pek River gorge are only a few of the nature beauties of this region. Veliko Gradiste Located on the banks of the Danube, at the point where Pek River flows into the Djerdap gorge. Near the town are two interesting sites: ruins of the old town of Ram where you can take boat and visit the left bank of Danube and Silver Lake, an ideal place for recreation and leisure.
Rajacke Pimnice (wine cellars) Rajac village, in Negotin surroundings, is one on the few that has a separate village just for wine cellars Pimnice. There are 270 wine cellars and most of then date back to 18th century. Gamzigrad Archeological site Feliks Romuliana located in the vicinity of Zajecar, it is well preserved. Roman emperor Gaius Valerius Galerius Maximinus was born there. He constructed the palace for his mother Romula. Romula and her son, the Emperor, were buried near the palace on the Maruga hill.
Sokobanja This is a spa with the longest tradition in Serbia. It is located between mountains Rtanj and Ozren, on the Moravica River. Rtalj Mountain Famous for its medical herbs and beautiful nature. Stara Planina Mountain One of the most beautiful and most preserved mountains in Serbia.
Resavska Cave The most famous of all caves in Serbia. Located 20 km from Despotovac. It is very rich in cave decorations and it is divided into several hall, galleries and channals. Ravanica Monastery Endowment of Knez Lazar. Church is dedicated to the Ascension. Built at the end of the 14th century in the style of the Morava school.
